Information on "Calculate By"

According to the Schedule of Payments For Disfigurement
For the Amputation of a Hand, Fingers, or Parts Thereof a
percentage should be applied to the value of the combination
of the finger(s) or parts that were lost. The percentages are
then added together and then averaged.

As an example if someone loses the entire thumb and the entire index finger they are entitled to 22 weeks of disfigurement benefits. If they also lose 1 phalanx of the middle finger as well they are only entitled to only 18.33 weeks of disfigurement.

As this does not appear to make sense you can use the by finger calculation and it will give the amounts payable based on what each finger is worth. It is up to the user to determine if this is appropriate or not.
